A workplace with a good atmosphere and a sense of security

I joined Fresa because I had worked at a hotel front desk for about 10 years in my previous job and wanted to continue working in the same industry after retiring. Standing at the front desk for long periods of time was a bit tough, but I thought that a maintenance job would allow me to continue working in the hotel industry, so I joined the company.

Although I joined the company as a maintenance worker, I worked at the front desk for the first one or two years. I can speak English and Portuguese because I lived in Brazil for ten years and the United States for seven years, so I was able to deal with overseas guests and I remember being happy to be able to play a role at the front desk. On the other hand, it was very difficult for me to get used to the hotel system, which was my first time. However, my colleagues at the front desk, regardless of age, spoke to me and helped me. Also, when I started working in maintenance full-time, a senior from another store came to teach me and stayed with me for a week to train me. This gave me peace of mind and I felt it was a good environment. Also, when I had trouble with shifts, I received support from nearby stores, which I think is proof that the franchise has a strong standardization.

Communicate proactively

There is only one maintenance staff member at the hotel where I work, so communication with the front desk staff is important. When working with people of all ages, I especially try to be careful not to be condescending and to be careful about how I speak. As people of all ages are different, their ways of thinking and understanding are also diverse, so I try to be proactive in talking to them in order to work comfortably. I believe that the willingness to take the initiative is also important in order to maintain a good atmosphere and good cooperation in the current workplace.

I am who I am today because I had someone who taught me well. I want to be someone who can teach this job someday. I am currently working hard on creating a manual. Personally, I will continue to study languages, and my current goal is to improve my Spanish. I always have goals and I'm not done yet! I want to keep trying new things.

I think that people with experience and people who like tinkering with machines are more likely to get used to maintenance work. Some people may think it sounds difficult and that they can't do it, but if you like cleaning and like being neat, there's no need to worry! That was my experience, but even if you have no experience in maintenance, there is a solid manual and they will support and teach you.
